Authentic connection is at the foundation of our work together.

True healing happens in the context of safety, trust, and connection. When we feel seen, heard, and understood, our defenses can soften enough for deeper work to begin. At Clearwater, we honor your story, your pace, and the trust needed for meaningful change.

Our mission

Authenticity, compassion, and human warmth.

At Clearwater Counseling, we believe good therapy brings together professional expertise and human warmth. The relationship between therapist and client is built through trust, respect, and a genuine understanding of each person’s experiences.

We approach our clients with authenticity, sensitivity, and respect, recognizing that each person comes to therapy with different needs, experiences, and circumstances. Our commitment is to offer a professional and human environment where it is possible to explore difficult emotions, recognize strengths, and develop a deeper understanding of oneself.

We understand that healing is not a linear process. There may be moments of clarity and progress, but also periods of uncertainty, resistance, and difficult emotions. We respect those differences and recognize that meaningful change takes time, patience, and a therapeutic relationship that can hold both the progress and the difficulties.

You don’t need to have all the answers.

Sometimes we come to therapy without knowing exactly what is happening to us. We may feel sadness, anger, anxiety, or disconnection without fully understanding where those emotions come from. Other times we know something needs to change, but we can’t find the words to explain it or don’t know where to begin.

You don’t need to have clarity about everything you feel, or know exactly what you want to work on, before you begin. There is also room for contradictions, doubts, and emotions that are hard to recognize or express.

Therapy can help you make sense of those experiences, discover parts of yourself you may not have considered, and find greater clarity about what you need. You don’t have to arrive with all the answers. Understanding what is happening to you can also be part of the work we do together.

A path of
collaboration
and trust.

Life is made up of experiences that, like the pieces of a puzzle, give meaning to our story. Yet some painful experiences can leave us confused, disconnected from our emotions, or unsure why we react the way we do. Therapy offers us the opportunity to pause, explore those experiences, and begin to recognize how they relate to one another.

Our work is to help you find those connections, understand how the past continues to shape your present, and discover new ways of responding to what once seemed difficult to change.

You know your experience better than anyone. Our role as therapists is to bring clinical knowledge, sensitivity, and a professional perspective that helps you explore what you are living through, without assuming we have all the answers. We work with you to identify your needs, set goals that reflect your values and priorities, and review together the progress and challenges that may arise.

We believe meaningful therapy is built through collaboration. Your personal knowledge and our professional training complement each other to develop new perspectives and find possibilities for change that make sense for your life.

Our
commitment
goes beyond
listening.

You deserve a therapist who is truly present, who pays attention to what you express and also to what is still difficult to put into words. For us, therapeutic presence means sensitivity, attentiveness, and active engagement in the work we do with you.

We commit to listening with intention, asking questions that deepen the understanding of your experiences, and recognizing the emotional and relational patterns that may be affecting your well-being. We do not take a distant stance toward your suffering; we bring our clinical training and our humanity to help you explore what needs attention, understanding, and change.

A space for
what needs to
be understood.

Painful experiences can shape the way we interpret what happens, regulate our emotions, protect ourselves from suffering, and relate to others. Often, the reactions that cause us difficulty today began as ways of adapting to circumstances we did not know how to face.

That is why our work is not limited to identifying behaviors that need to change. We also seek to understand which experiences helped develop them, which emotions sustain them, and which needs they may be expressing.

Therapeutic tools, emotional regulation strategies, and behavioral changes can be important resources in this process. However, we believe they become more meaningful when they are integrated with a deep understanding of the person and the experiences that have shaped their life.

Our purpose is to help you develop that understanding and use it to build ways of responding, relating, and living that are healthier and more aligned with your needs and values.

Our Clinical Orientation

Our therapeutic work is grounded in a trauma-informed, integrative approach that draws from a variety of experiential, relational, and attachment-based modalities. These include Somatic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy (EFT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).

We believe in working collaboratively with our clients every step of the way. You maintain full autonomy in your healing journey, and we are committed to transparency in the therapeutic process. Any interventions we introduce will be discussed together, with mutual agreement and intention. We welcome open dialogue and are always available to answer questions or explore concerns—because we believe therapy works best when it’s built on trust, choice, and connection.

Teamwork is a fundamental part of our practice. Through weekly clinical consultation, ongoing supervision, and advanced training in trauma treatment and couples therapy, we continually strengthen our knowledge and skills, integrating research-supported approaches to offer care that is professional, deeply human, and committed to the well-being of those who place their trust in us.
